Mentoring Program

Our goal for the Youth Mentoring Program is to present educational, entrepreneurial, social, and medical awareness to teenagers as an alternative to adverse behavior and activities.

The DOT Organization will promote drug and alcohol free lifestyles and assist teens in goal setting, competent decision making, stress and peer pressure management.

OBJECTIVES

In an effort to assist teens during difficult years, The DOT Organization will:

  • Provide foundation, skills, and methods required for effective and safe decision-making during youth development years.
  • Increase awareness on the negative effects of drugs and alcohol.
  • Provide qualified facilitators from community businesses and organizations to advise, counsel, and mentor youth, through a series of workshops, seminars, and structured activities.
  • Determine individual challenges, issues, or problems and provide positive and reasonable alternatives.
  • Identify and reinforce strong characteristics needed to resist partner and peer pressure.
  • Educate youth on responsible behavior and the benefits of community involvement.
  • Conduct development workshops to build on the assets and strengths of teens by assisting them in setting goals, completing school, and planning their future.
  • Provide social and economical opportunities to develop and strengthen feelings of self-worth and self-esteem.
  • Conduct peer-mentoring sessions to increase teen-to-teen sharing of information and problem solving.
  • Strengthen bonds between teens and family members by providing opportunities for equal participation in applicable sessions, and demonstrations of support, love, and caring.
